About Glo-Toobs

Glo-toob > About Glo-Toobs
BACKGROUND
GLO-TOOBs were originally designed as a safety light for Divers to overcome the various problems associated with Chemical Sticks.
Unreliable and limited light intensity.
Inability to switch off.
The need to be shaken to re invigorate and provide maximum light.
Environmentally unfriendly. Disposal problems.

Battery driven, and offering many hours battery use, these GLO-TOOBs are virtually indestructible, waterproof to 3000mts, 100 000 hrs LED use and almost maintenance free.
GLO-TOOB however, has evolved way beyond this, and new uses are constantly evolving, as well as adaptations of GLO-TOOB which are listed later. The various uses have both civilian and military applications.

It is worth noting that the military pedigree of GLO-TOOB is exceptional and is in use with both US and British Special Forces extensively and has been used in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

The list that follow are not complete. If you or your clients have other applications then please inform us. Remember that there are similar products in the market, but none are as simple to use, robust or adaptable as GLO-TOOB. They are virtually indestructible, and without doubt offer the best emergency light, size for size and light intensity.
MILITARY USES
COMBAT IDENTIFICATION (CID) - Avoiding friendly fire is paramount in today' military scenarios. Intra-red Glo-Toob are the outstanding method of differentiating between the "good" and "bad" guys, as well as the ability to distinguish what personnel / units are where.

Glo-Toob FX has 7 pre programmed modes that can be scrolled through providing CID to at least 7 different units or formations. Glo-Toob can be programmed with as many flashing sequences that are required. This would be carried out at factory level.

These can be applied as follows:

To mark and distinguish cordon area / stop positions from assault teams and to ascertain which units / personnel are involved...
In border regions to be able to distinguish "friendlies from illegals / smugglers and then the ability to guide your forces with use of Night Vision equipment onto the targets. They are used extensively by dog teams [inc SAR] and worn as a collar attachment or to the shabak.
Convoy and route markers. The IR is particularly good for vehicle convoy work.

MILITARY USES
Paratroops. For use during night training drops, as personnel markers both during flight and on the DZ. Also for HALO training to aid visibility/ collisions, and with the Infrared, for operational use.
To mark air drops and cargo.
Designate Helicopter landing sites and emergency fixed-wing runways. A C-130 has been landed in the desert using only Glo-Toob to mark the runway.
Beach assault markers as well as route marking and safe routs through minefields etc. Rendezvous (RV] marking.
Fighting in Built up Areas (FIBUA and in US MOUT) to indicate buildings/ routes, room and building cleared / dangerous / occupied / booby trapped areas etc.
Naval use for ship to ship transfer, personnel lights etc. Divers. Safety.
IR lighting source to enhance Night Vision equipment. They can be thrown into or left in rooms, providing excellent IR silhouetting of targets for snipers and general observation. Also to indicate convert equipment. Reputable sources indicate the IR, depending on kit used, is visible up to 2kms, though some sources claim line of sight.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal EOD- where there is a threat from photosensitive initiators the Glo-Toob EOD light will provide a light source that has been designed to minimize the possibility of activating the initiator.
NON MILITARY APPLICATIONS
This also includes police and civil defence.

Personal beacon and markers for all emergency personnel at major incidence. The use of personnel lights has shown to lower the accident rate of Traffic Police in the UK.

Route marking in and out for Civil Defence units especially in smoke areas. Mountain rescue etc.

Emergency lighting source for stair wells, and can be configured to trigger when the mains lights go fail. Also for Boat/ Yacht use to offer a totally reliable non-maintenance emergency light source.

Industrial safety. Indicates builders' railway staff / machinery and safe areas. Particularly useful in mines and mine rescue teams.

SPORTING / PERSONAL USESPORTING / PERSONAL USE
Diving - the Glo-Toob original use and design
Parachuting.
Camping area light.
Emergency beacon for campers and climbers. Again note the size, simplicity and cost compared to alternatives. Glo-Toob could soon have RF transmitter.
Earthquake areas. Glo-Toob offers an inexpensive maintenance free personnel beacon.
Life Preservers - there is no better or affordable emergency beacon that can be fitted to every airline and boat life jacket. Various activation modes available.
Boating - again providing actual or emergency navigation light or internal safety. An emergency light for Windsurf / Kite sailors.
